Last updated: 22 June 2026

This page explains what personal data AnimaByte collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep it minimal on purpose — small worlds, small data.

Who we are

AnimaByte is a one-person indie game project by Pal Leksan, based in Norway. For any privacy question, email contact@animabyte.com — that reaches us directly. See also our Legal Notice.

What we collect & why

  • Newsletter. If you sign up, we store your email address, plus the date, time, and IP address of your sign-up (as a record that you consented). We use this only to send you occasional build notes and updates. Email delivery is handled by Resend. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
  • Analytics. We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool, to count visits and see which pages are popular. It collects aggregate data (page, approximate country, referrer) and does not set cookies or store data that identifies you personally.
  • If you email us. We keep your message and address so we can reply.
  • Server logs. Our host may keep standard technical logs (including IP addresses) briefly, to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, so there's no cookie banner. The site uses a tiny bit of local browser storage only to remember a developer/preview setting — it doesn't track you.

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We only share it with the services that run the site:

  • Resend — sends our newsletter and the sign-up confirmation (US-based; data may be processed in the USA under standard safeguards).
  • OVHcloud — hosts the website (European Union).
  • GoatCounter — privacy-friendly, cookieless visit analytics.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to help you. Analytics are aggregate and not tied to you.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, or export your data, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. To do any of these, email contact@animabyte.com (or just use the unsubscribe link in any email). You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

AnimaByte isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the site.
